Something a little different.... Hand designed cards by me..

This year I started a new journey, after 4 years of being a textile artist and crocheting many many kinds of unique toys and gifts, I started drawing and going back to my art, something I have done and enjoyed since I was very little.

So today i'm going to share with you my arty side ....

This year I decided to design my own xmas cards and draw a set showing what I've learnt and what I love.

So far I have created 3 designs for cards all with a whimsy xmas theme.
I'm going to show you how I spent today finishing off my 3rd card in my series.

stating with my original sketch I started colouring my sketch with water colours. I use a mix of cheap brand colours I have.
*Reeves tube water colour
*Dollar store kids water colour tray

Its daycare day for my 4 year old twin girls , and its so relaxing to get into my craft room and just paint.

The picture is starting to come together . One thing I find with water colour is that as I'm laying the colours down I feel like its just one huge mess, all uneven and patchy looking.
But as it all comes to completion it starts to come together and surprisingly look great.
water colours can be so much fun and I think anyone can use them.

About 1hr later I've got all the painting done and its all come together and looking great ..
It's a bit of a cheeky image of 3 young singer's , as u can see one falling asleep, one singing and the little boy on the end being a little rude...lol not really wanting to sing...
FAH LAH LAH...LAH LAH..FAH LAH ....BLAH BLAH !!!!

Now my favourite part begins, putting all the detail in with my black fine liners and white sharpie.
this for me is what brings the whole image to life.

the completed piece all ready for printing into glossy cards.....

I hope you enjoyed my blog today .. im still learning and id love to hear your feedback to how I can improve .. so please leave a comment and pop by my facebook page. and see my other creations..
